WaMu: ok sir. we recommend you take other resources because there’s a chance we’re going to flag your ATM card while you’re there.

Me: what? that’s why i’m calling, so that doesn’t happen

WaMu: it doesn’t really matter, the computer detects suspicious activity and flags automatically

Me: so you’re telling me there’s a good chance you’ll freeze my atm card while i’m on my trip?

WaMu: i’m trying to be honest with you sir, we don’t want someone in thailand to steal your card and take all your money. then you won’t have any money

Me: well, it doesn’t sound like i’ll be able to get any money regardless!

Backpack must be acquired (tonight)

Thai currency must be exchanged for (not doing it)

Bank must be attended (today)

Packages must be picked up (tonight)

Said packages must then be delivered (also tonight)

Hat must be gotten (FAIL. no hats that i liked)

Band practice must be rocked (cancelled it)

Packing must be finished (very close)

DVD’s for trip must be gotten

passport needs to be copied (tonight)

not bad not bad…

Yesterday I was considering a problem of somewhat minor but nonetheless fascinating proportions, and i found myself thinking “what would Titus Andronicus do?”. This is of course, not the best way to go about daily business since Titus Andronicus (or “TA”) was somewhat insane, and caused the death of most of his family, along with the emperor of Rome, all in one huge mess of a dinner. So I’m not sure what his behavioral patterns would introduce into my nice little dilemma, but I can guarantee that they would make things a little more interesting and probably a little more dramatic.

Along those lines, i was talking with some friends on saturday and speaking of how i find intelligence really attractive. And the first question was “how do you measure intelligence”. this spiraled out of control quickly so i started thinking about a 5 question quiz that i could ask people to determine base intelligence. Of course it would never work and would be in itself an assurance that i would never get past a first date again, but since i love the innappropriate so very very much, i kept thinking about it. The goal is to find 5 questions that cover a variety of different areas of knowledge, and ideally don’t mistake education for intelligence, but at the same time don’t end up being an IQ test. So far this is what I’ve got:

1. What’s the first number that’s both a perfect square and a perfect cube?

2. Who won the War of the Roses?

3. What’s the saddest chord in music?

4. Name one noble gas.

5. Name two non-presidents on American Paper Currency

6. What is your favorite palindrome?

7. How many points is the “V” worth in scrabble?

8. What is considered Emily Bronte’s second best book, behind Wuthering Heights?

9. Name every american state capital you can think of which is also the largest city in that state (bad question for anyone not born in the USA)

10. Talk to me a little about objectives and obstacles

11. Who was shakespeare REALLY?

I should be honest that i had to look up more than half of these.
