thanksgiving follow up – boston radio sucks
i meant to include this in my thanksgiving recap, but one thing i noticed while back in boston was how much boston rock radio sucks. or doesn’t suck as much as it hasn’t changed since i was in high school. in a 10 minute drive, i heard the following songs on the radio:
1. “Girls girls girls” by motley crue
2. “loser” by beck
3. “november rain” by Guns and Roses
4. “i stay away” by alice in chains (this was off their really bad album)
5. “lithium” by nirvana
the most telling was a preview commercial which said: “coming up in the next hour we’ve some Guns and Roses, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana”
what?? is it 1992 again? or has there been no good new music since then? no, there has been. so radio must just suck it. I have a theory that KEXP is the last good radio station in the entire country. i challenge anyone who reads this to give me another one.
